Scientist II - LC/MS and HPLC
Lake County, IL
6+ month initial contract (renewable)
Hourly Pay Rate: $43-46/hr (medical benefits available at a cost)

Our global pharmaceutical client is hiring! Their Quantitative, Translational ADME Sciences (QTAS) department is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Biologics Bioanalysis, Characterization, and Proteomics (BBCP) group in North Chicago, IL.

This position primarily involves conducting LC/MS-based bioanalysis assays on biologic entities including monoclonal antibodies, antibody drug conjugates (ADC), fusion proteins, etc., to provide essential support for in vitro stability, pre-clinical PK, PK/PD, and Toxicology studies. The candidate will be responsible for sample preparation, bioanalytical assay operations, method development, instrument operation and maintenance, data analysis and report generation. This is a 6-month contractor position.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
* Implement bioanalytical methods for quantifying antibodies, ADCs, fusion proteins, peptides, and small molecules using triple quad LC-MS/MS.
* Characterization of antibodies, ADCs, fusion proteins, peptides using intact MS and peptide mapping with high-res MS platforms.
* Routinely assist with sample incubation and preparation for serum stability studies.
* Routinely operate LC-MS and automation instrumentation, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
* Analyze and present data to project teams and stakeholders.
* Utilize and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks for study documentation.
* Support study data entry and archival to RLIMS.

Education and Experience:
* M.S. (2+ years), or B.S. (5+ years) of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
* Highly motivated individual with a strong intellectual and technical background in LC-MS analysis is required. Experience in large-molecule LC-MS bioanalysis is an advantage.
* Direct hands-on experience and/or strong trouble shooting skills in LC-MS bioanalytical laboratory is required. Experience with Triple quad MS (SCIEX), QTOF MS (Agilent) is preferred.
* Utilization of electronic sample management tools and automation systems is a plus.
* High level of attention to detail and proficiency in analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to work independently and excel in a team environment.

What are the top 3-5 skills, experience or education required for this position:
* Competency with QTOF (Agilent) and Triple Quad (Sciex) LCMS systems.
* Competency with Analyst, Protein Metrics, BioConfirm for data analysis.
* Experience with sample preparation with biological matrices to enable quantification and characterization studies.
* Familiarity working with large molecules - protein characterization, intact mass, and peptide mapping analysis is highly desired
* A strong understanding of quantitative analysis, including utilization of calibration curves, internal standards, QCs, basic statistics
* Must be able to maintain HPLC and LCMS for routine operations
