Scientist III - Immunofluorescence Assays
Onsite in South San Francisco, CA
1 year initial contract
Hourly Pay Rate: $70-73/hr (Medical benefits available at a cost)

Orion Group is seeking an experienced Scientist skilled in immunofluorescence assays to work with our global pharmaceutical client in South San Francisco, CA. This Scientist will work within the prestigious company's Precision Medicine Pathology group.

The Precision Medicine Pathology team drives the scientific strategy for translational tissue-based biomarker development & discovery target validation/MOA projects, leads pathology collaborative programs, conducts histopathological evaluation & analysis of IHC & other tissue-based studies, and provides technical/scientific leadership to histotechnicians & pathology scientists.

In this role, you will be supporting a variety of studies using multiplex immunofluorescence assays. You must be able to conceive and implement multiplex IF assays to answer scientific questions.

Responsibilities:
* Designing, developing and validating multiplex immunofluorescence panels using OPAL or similar technologies.

  • Designing an mIF panel with consideration of biologic & technical factors
  • Developing & optimizing the mIF panel
  • Scanning mIF slides using PhenoImager HT
  • Spectral unmixing using inForm

* Digital pathology analysis using Halo or VisioPharm
* Expected to make significant contributions to project team through lab-based activities
* Highly autonomous and productive in performing laboratory research or method development
* Formulate conclusions and design follow-on experiments based on multidisciplinary data

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Science-related field with 10+ years of related work; or Master's Degree Science with 5+ years of related work.
* Close familiarity with the principles of tissue microscopic anatomy/histology including knowledge of pathological alterations in disease and experience working in collaboration with trained pathologists is preferred.
* Extended experience in designing, developing & validating multiplex mIF assays using OPAL or similar technologies, as well as scanning the mIGF stained slides & spectral unmixing using inForm.
* Experience in digital image analysis using Halo or VisioPharm.
* Excellent verbal communication skills are required including the demonstrated ability to effectively and clearly summarize results for presentation and report generation
* Strong motivation, attention to detail, ability to think independently and fully integrate into a high achieving team environment
* Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects
