Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Environmental Adviser, based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities:
* Accountable to provide advice to the project team on the interpretation of applicable UK environmental legislation, EU Directives, global treaties and other industry guidance.
* Responsible to prepare and obtain environmental regulatory development approvals, permits and consents for the project activities, and support all other regulatory approvals with appropriate environmental input.
* Responsible to demonstrate compliance with the company's standards and applicable regulations and seek assurance from the company's environmental management team at regular points in the project schedule.
* Responsible to productively engage with regulators and key stakeholders in a proactive manner, taking a lead in the relationship management with OPRED.
* Responsible to deliver environmental risk management activities including environmental aspects identification (ENVID), EIA, planning and constructability assessment, procedures, and work instructions.
* Responsible for advising on pragmatic and effective environmental risk management and impact mitigation solutions in support of project activities.
* Responsible to identify, analyse, and report on project environmental baseline and related performance data.
* Responsible to help identify, prepare and deliver training, including awareness training and specific training on environmental issues, risks, standards and processes.
* Responsible to provide contract management for services required to deliver specified environmental deliverables.
* Responsible to plan environmental inspections and audits, and support incident investigations as required.
* Responsible to mobilise to site as required for delivery of environmental work programme elements; some element of UK travel is anticipated in this role.
* Support the development of the project environmental management system elements, including the administration and continuous improvement.
* Participate in emergency response support as required.
* Any other reasonable duty as per instruction by your manager.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Relevant degree qualified Environmental professional with extensive onshore and offshore industry planning, development and operational experience
* A member of a professional body (chartered status strongly preferred)
* Experienced major projects professional, ideally with experience from Power, Infrastructure or Oil & Gas projects
* Self driven and results oriented individual with demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal and influencing skills
* Excellent communicator, both orally and written
* Proficient and demonstrable experience of the following specific practices (onshore & offshore environments):
- Environmental legislation
- National infrastructure planning
- Habitats regulations assessment
- Cumulative impact assessment and impact mitigation
- Baseline survey scoping, design and management
- Lifecycle emissions and sustainability assessment
- The UK emissions trading scheme
- Emissions to air - venting, emissions control, monitoring data management, analysis and accounting
- Chemical use and impact assessment
- Water management
- Waste management
* Audit and investigation experience, ideally able to carry out internal audits of the Environmental Management System and external contractor and vendor audits as required
* Awareness of the company's HSES Policies and Business Management System (BMS)
* Awareness of the company's Values & Business Principles
