Senior Process Engineer - Gasification and Biosolids Group

Our client, an innovative and growing holistic solutions company that reduces, separates, and converts challenging wastes, is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join their Gasification and Biosolids group. This team focuses on developing cutting-edge wastewater treatment technology, utilizing renewable and waste energy sources to create environmentally sustainable solutions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the commercialization of novel gasification technology and biosolids handling processes.

Location: Murfreesboro, TN (suburb of Nashville)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead process design for gasification equipment, including systems to convert syngas to liquid products.
  • Develop mass and energy balances using tools like Aspen Plus.
  • Design P&IDs, process control strategies, and create process equipment specifications.
  • Oversee the preparation of pre-FEED and FEED packages and assist with project permitting.
  • Prepare cost estimates and review equipment proposals.
  • Participate in project-related activities such as pilot demonstrations, factory testing, and system commissioning.
  • Travel periodically to project, customer, and vendor sites as required.

Requirements:

  • Chemical Engineering degree with 10+ years of experience in wastewater, power generation, or chemical industries.
  • Proven expertise in specifying and designing gas-to-liquid catalytic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of gasification, solids handling, hydrogen separation, or biosolids drying processes.
  • Proficiency in process modeling and optimization, preferably with Aspen Plus.
  • Experience developing FEL 1 and FEL 2 packages and troubleshooting production operations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be capable of performing physical activities, such as climbing ladders, walking on outdoor surfaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
