Systems Engineer (Rockwell experience)

We have a requirement for a Systems Engineer to work with a major Oil and Gas client in UAE. Candidate needs to have practical experience developing Rockwell software

This is a yearly renewable contract on a residential basis, 5 days per week.

The Systems Engineer will support the Lead Systems Engineer to perform assigned Instrument and Control System Upgrades, Modifications and Enhancements as part of the company's engineering projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Job Related Competencies -

Educational Qualifications:

▪ Relevant Engineering degree.

Experience Profile:

▪ Strong experience on varied systems design, maintenance and commissioning experience in an oil and gas environment.

▪ Extensive experience in programming and configuring modern control systems;

  • Safety Instrumented System (SIS), DCS, PLC, SCADA systems, Control systems, Networking or Architecture which includes cyber security.

Competencies/Skills/Others:

▪ Demonstrated subject knowledge and competence.

▪ Detailed understanding of Control Systems such as Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS), DCS, PLC, and Relay Logic systems, including maintenance and operability considerations.

▪ DCS, PLC, and HMI Programming skills.

▪ Proficiency in Emerson Delta-V, Schneider Electric, Foxboro, DCS, Triconex, Honeywell, Siemens and Allen Bradley hardware, software development and trouble shooting skills.

▪ Complete Technical Bid Evaluation on Control Systems Hardware and Software.

▪ Understanding of SIL Evaluation and Verification in line with IEC 61508/61511

▪ Proficient computer skills; computer literate in Windows based programs.

▪ Good written and verbal communication in English.

▪ Effective working within a multi-cultural team

Key Result Areas (Key Accountabilities)

  • Carryout the preventive maintenance for control systems.
  • Provide the emergency support on 24-hour basis.
  • Maintain the control system effectively and ensure the availability of systems for

operation of equipment.

  • Assist engineering team for the ongoing projects and provide support for control

system software development, participate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT),

  • Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and system commissioning.
  • Carry out maintenance activities on Distributed Control Systems (DCS),

Emergency Shutdown systems (ESD), Programmable Logic (PLC) systems and

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems (SCADA) equipment and

associated interfaces to ensure system availability for continuous production

operation.

  • Travel to offshore and onshore facilities for design surveys and implementation

of control system modifications and upgrades.

  • Interpret vendor documentation and data to include in design deliverables.
  • Participate in design technical review meetings, Site Surveys, FAT, SAT and

installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities

implementation of new projects, especially in modernisation of Control and

SCADA systems.

  • Provide around the clock (24/7) Emergency Assistance to operations for any

emergency situation, breakdowns or shutdowns.

  • Complete development of control systems for the engineering ongoing projects

including control system design, hardware integration, software configuration

conducting FAT, SAT, commissioning, and handover to operation.

  • Investigates and isolates operational problems referred by users of the systems

and implements the necessary modifications, conducting tests to ensure correct

functioning with least interruption to Production activities.

  • Change Management review and approval for existing asset modification,

utilising in house software, processes and procedures, including the

management of control system software revisions.

  • Implement cyber security requirements on regular basis and ensure the system

availability
