Technical Authority - Distributed Control Systems
Position Summary
The Technical Authority - Distributed Control Systems will provide essential technical support for various control systems, including Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS), Process Control Networks (PCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Programmable Electronic Systems (PLCs), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs). This role will involve managing and maintaining software and logic solver backups to ensure optimal system performance.
Terms of Engagement
The position is offered on a 28/28 rotational basis, and is based onsite in Krechba, Algeria. All flights, meals and accommodation costs are covered and a competitive day rate is offered.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting for maintenance and operations teams on control systems and equipment.
* Assist in troubleshooting and maintenance of Control and Instrument Systems, such as PLC, DCS, and ESD systems.
* Contribute to developing conceptual or detailed in-house software and hardware control systems modifications.
* Conduct root cause failure analysis and propose recommendations to prevent future failures.
* Progress assigned engineering queries, evaluating and implementing appropriate solutions to close out.
* Participate and take a practical role in preparing and reviewing preventative maintenance strategies related to control system implementation.
* Perform critical disaster recovery of control systems equipment, such as PLCs and HMIs.
* Review spare parts specifications and participate in identifying obsolete spares replacements.
* Demonstrate good safety behavior through conducting safety conversions and safety observations.
Education and Experience
* A degree in Electronic, Control, or Instrument engineering or equivalent.
* Minimum of 8 years of working experience in maintenance or engineering of control and instrument systems.
* Proven ability to troubleshoot and modify process and safety control systems.
* Knowledge of PLC, SCADA/HMI control systems, hardware and architecture, and application of instrumentation-related standards, codes, and regulations.
* Understanding of instrument hook-up drawings, interfacing between DCS, PLC, and other systems, auxiliary plant, field instruments, and control valves.
* Knowledge and understanding of plant HSE systems and procedures.
* Experience in preparing technical specifications and documents.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
