Job description
We have a current opportunity for a Telecoms Technician on a PAYE contract basis. The position will be based in Gt Yarmouth area offices with occasional offshore trips. Candidates must be based near the Great Yarmouth area and be certified to work offshore in the North Sea.
The role will provide support to the remote monitoring and control systems based on Offshore assets. Most of the work is dealt with from the Bacton offices but there is a need to travel offshore, and candidates should hold a valid BOSIET.
Technical engineer responsible for support and development of Field Telecommunication services in the North Sea. Responsibility includes but not limited to all systems details within the telecom reference architecture document. Small project survey, design support and implementation. The role reports into the Senior telecoms lead. Candidate must have experience working in a potentially hazardous environment and 5 years plus experience working on offshore operational or exploration Oil or gas installations and be fully conversant with the challenges of such locations.
The successful candidate will support multiple production and exploration installations both on and offshore. A proven ability to work safely without direct supervision in an operational offshore production environment is essential. Must be able to travel offshore from the start.
Skills & requirements
The key skills are the ability to safely and effectively manage the offshore and plant legacy telecommunications equipment, understanding the priorities when considering safety and operations and ensuring faults are appropriately and correctly escalated to support integrated service providers.
Liaise with project managers to assist with site survey and implementation of new equipment installations on the offshore locations.
Accommodate additional demands onto the network, for example temporary Mobile Drilling Units or accommodation barges.
To provide advice to site staff on all matters relating to telecoms and IT systems, making them aware of any areas in which they may have a concern.
Be part of the telecoms on-call rota for out of hours support
