Job Title: Umbilical System Field Engineer


JOB SUMMARY

The job holder will report to the Project Umbilical Delivery Lead and shall be responsible to follow up on the activities performed by the Contractors fabricating and installing the umbilical system for the Project. The individual shall ensure such activities are performed in line with Project and Company Standards. The perimeter of the scope of work includes: production of onshore and subsea umbilicals, termination of umbilicals to UTA's, testing of integrated umbilical packages, termination and testing of steel tube flying leads, and packaging of umbilicals and flying leads to their respective reels, transpooling of the umbilicals and installation thereof.

The job holder shall support the review of engineering, procurement and installation deliverables produced by the Contractors in charge of the subsea umbilical system to the required level of definition and suitable comprehensive to assure the technical design.

The job holder shall follow FAT, EFAT and SIT activities on site. He shall guarantee that each component of the subsea umbilical system is manufactured, tested and delivered on time in according to Project and Company standards. After the delivery, the job holder will transition to the EPCI team to support the installation campaign.

The job holder shall be capable of working in a cross-functional manner with the various package leaders and quality team to achieve technical solutions which meet the requirements of the concerned entities.

The job holder is also accountable for respecting HSE rules and requirements and for ensuring the appropriate application within the scope of responsibility.

EXPERIENCE

The candidate shall have good knowledge of all aspects of subsea umbilical distribution systems and their integration with the overall subsea control and production systems. In addition, the job holder shall:

  • Have good knowledge of subsea umbilical system design codes and standards used for the design, manufacture testing and installation of umbilical system components.
  • Have good knowledge of subsea umbilical system components (e.g., umbilicals, steel tubes, electrical and optical cables, UTA's, flying leads, MQC plates, etc.).
  • Have experience with subsea controls distribution hardware.
  • Have experience with FAT/EFAT/SIT activities
  • Be familiar with SPS components (XTs, Manifolds, Completion & Workover Equipment, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge and experience of Umbilical transporting and installation processes and procedures in both shallow and deep water.



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all Subsea Umbilical System activities are performed in compliance with a high regard to HSE requirements.
  • Actively participate within Subsea Umbilical System package and the project for HSE performance and compliance including monitoring of activities, the implementation of corrective measures for any related issues and the pro-active promotion and implementation of schemes / activities to improve HSE culture and results.
  • To ensure consistency of design, execution planning and operational aspects of the Subsea Umbilical System package.
  • To review and comment project documentation (e.g. test procedures, interface matrix, assembly drawings) and comment on project documentation produced by contractors relative to the Subsea Umbilical System package.
  • To support the spooling and packaging of the umbilicals onto their respective installation reels in a manner conducive to transportation and installation activities.
  • To participate to meetings and workshops with Umbilical contractors.
  • To witness termination and FAT/EFAT/SIT activities.
  • To follow interfaces between Umbilical and SPS Packages for the Subsea Distribution (UTA, ICJ's, HFL/EFL, etc.).
  • Provide reporting function towards the Subsea Umbilical System Lead for all work activities within area of responsibility. Bring to earliest attention of Subsea Umbilical System Lead issues which present a significant threat to the project and offer mitigating measures / work plans.
  • To participate to weekly meetings with the rest of the Subsea Team and to critical meetings at project and package level (e.g. design reviews, Interface reviews, HAZIDs, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, workshops, etc.).
  • Follow Umbilical from manufacturing to mobilization, transpooling, installation and pre-commissioning phase.



DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Minimum experience: 10+ years on Subsea Umbilical Systems, proven track record in similar positions.
  • Bachelor's Degree as a minimum
  • Proficient level of knowledge and experience and safe working practices on offshore construction projects
  • Proficient level of knowledge and experience in Deep Water Developments
  • Excellent organizational ability and commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication and proficient presentation skills and capable to represent the Company and the project and in front of third parties and other stakeholders in a professional and organized manner.
  • Capable of working autonomously
  • Ability to get along well with others and take a pragmatic approach to problem-solving situations.
  • Ability to multi-task and work as part of small and flexible team




LOCATION AND DURATION

  • Base location: Umbilical Production Facility (Panama City, USA).
  • Duration of assignment: Until June 2025 (plus possible extension)
  • Travel: Frequent travels to Houston, plus occasional potential international travel on short notice to support other project activities. The installation campaign internationally is currently planned to start in Q1 2025 and the job holder is expected to be in rotation to follow the in-country activities.
