Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Wells Superintendent, based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities:
* Works closely with the onshore and offshore MODU teams, and other key team members to plan, develop and execute the MODU and LWIV P&A campaign, ensuring all activities are undertaken in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner and in strict compliance with Company standards and procedures and relevant regulatory requirements.
* Supervises and co-ordinates the onshore and offshore subsea resources, ensures activities are prioritised effectively and that the team delivers results in line with approved plans and timescales.
* Manages offshore operations, working closely with offshore supervisors and key contract subsea personnel and rig contractor personnel. Takes a lead role in the communication, planning and decision-making processes to ensure programmes are delivered safely and effectively.
* Ensures processes are in place to control and approve proposed changes to programmes.
* Develops a high level of responsibility and ownership within the team and promotes continuous performance improvement in the development of technical expertise and competency, new technologies, standards and practices, commercial awareness and innovative thinking.
* Ensures subsea P&A activities are effectively planned and in line with Asset plans/operational activities. Sets objectives/deliverables, anticipates schedule/operational problems and ensures robust processes are in place to plan for contingencies. Ensures all Permits and Consents are submitted and approved in time and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Establish and maintain a schedule to deliver the well objectives by controlling and prioritising all activities, tracking progress and re-scheduling for changes as they occur to keep control of and prioritise activities, and ensures that the team delivers results in line with approved plans and timescales.
* Ensure the optimum scheduling and delivery of the MODU equipment maintenance requirements to minimize risk of equipment failure and impact on critical path operations.
* Develops and maintains procurement plans for services, materials and equipment based on the well schedule and ensures materials, services and equipment are available in line with well schedules and operations.
* Ensures the team and relevant contractor/vendor companies comply with the requirements of the Company's Business Management System and that all relevant documentation is systematically recorded, auditable and traceable.
* Ensures an effective interface and communication process is established between the team, other company teams and external/3rd party representatives to ensure clear understanding of project objectives/work programmes, encourage open transfer of knowledge and information and to identify, record, track and close out actions in an effective and timely manner.
* Develops and manages project budgets and ensures compliance with budget management, control and reporting processes.
* Controls MODU P&A procedures and practices through the effective and efficient review of detailed programmes, peer reviews, risk assessments, programme reviews, etc. Monitors and records issues during well activities to ensure these activities do not impact asset safety and environmental performance.
* Takes a lead role in the development of highly positive relationships with external/regulatory bodies e.g. Well Examiner, HSE, NSTA, OPRED and third parties and ensures team members support the relationship-building process.
* Represents the company externally through e.g. membership of industry forums, attending conferences/seminars.
* Makes regular visits offshore to enhance onshore-offshore relationships/communications and to check compliance with the company's Management System.
* Participates in the duty rota for operational support and emergencies.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Degree in a technical/engineering discipline or comparable practical subsea operations management experience
* Offshore Survival Training Certificate, UK Medical and MIST
* Fully certified by a recognised Well Control Authority for subsea activities e.g. IWCF to Supervisor level.
