Job description
We have an exciting new opportunity for an Asset Buyer in a contract position for our clients Contracting and Procurement Department based out of Calgary, AB. The role is based in Calgary with regular visits to the Kitimat, BC site, and the working hours are 40 hours per week.
The successful Asset Buyer will be responsible for managing a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with world-class contractors, interfacing with Operations and Maintenance teams, and being self-motivated and high-performing. They will also need to develop strong internal relationships with stakeholders/customers and create a top quartile Asset Contracting and Procurement organization.
The main responsibilities of the role that will utilize your experience includes:
- Delivering challenging targets for material and equipment availability before the startup of the Asset.
- Working with planning teams to understand demand and procure spare parts.
- Developing strategies for procuring spare parts based on best value.
- Collaborating with the Commissioning and Startup team to ensure the availability of correct materials.
- Participating in planning and procuring materials for turnaround or shutdown events.
- Gaining an in-depth understanding of material demand and market conditions.
- Developing strategies and contracts in accordance with procedures, maintaining and upgrading contracting and procurement processes, and sharing best practices and tools based on experience.
To be successful, you will have:
- A minimum of 5 years of Contracting and Procurement experience in Oil and Gas or heavy industrial settings, demonstrated Asset Contracting and Procurement experience.
- A degree in Business, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent.
- Operational contracting experience with the ability to manage discussions on Terms and Conditions, understanding and application of contracting and procurement processes and tools (SAP experience is a must).
- Experience in technical buying, contract management and governance, strong commercial acumen.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, effective communication skills, motivation, and a track record of delivery to Asset/Operational demands.
- Skill Understanding Business & demands.
- Contracting and Procurement (CP) processes and systems capabilities.
- Understanding and experience in CP Contract management in large value contracts.
To be successful in applying for the position you'll be required to:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
- Know that this is not a fly-in, fly-out rotation role.
- Required to work in the Calgary Head Office with regular visits to site in Kitimat, BC.
