Position: Metering Engineer
Location: Buliisa, Uganda
Contract Type: Rotational (18 months+)
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role:
This role offers the opportunity to work in a challenging and unique environment within a large-scale oil and gas operation. The Metering Engineer will be a key member of the Upstream Production Methods team, reporting directly to the Production/Material Balance Lead Engineer. This position involves overseeing the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of critical metering systems, interfacing with operational teams, and contributing to safe and efficient oil and gas production in Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE):
- Lead and promote safe systems of work in all activities.
- Participate in risk assessments, audits, HSE meetings, and emergency drills.
Technical - Project Execution Phase:
- Collaborate with MPFM vendors for configuration and commissioning.
- Develop and implement Remote Metering Monitoring (RMM) systems.
- Coordinate metering guidelines and submission of allocation calculations.
- Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Ensure the preparation of metering documentation, including Metering Point Data Base and Technical Handbook.
- Conduct metering reviews/audits for compliance.
Technical - Production Phase:
- Monitor flow meters for accuracy and operational integrity.
- Verify metering inputs for environmental and operational reporting.
- Provide technical support for metering maintenance and optimization.
- Assist in well production and injection allocation and prepare operational reports.
- Collaborate with the laboratory for sampling campaigns and updates.
Interfaces:
- Work closely with well performance, production, and reservoir engineering teams.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and corrective metering maintenance.
Key Accountabilities:
- Deliver cost-effective designs and tools for material balance and oil lifting operations.
- Ensure metering systems meet accuracy, safety, reliability, and operability requirements.
- Manage interfaces between disciplines and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Petroleum, Process, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 6 years of experience in process engineering, maintenance instrumentation, or field operations in oil and gas.
- Knowledge of API MPMS and ISO 5168 standards.
- Familiarity with thermodynamic and process software and real-time data systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple requests.
- Experience in instrumentation and maintenance.
