Job description

Job Title: Commissioning Mechanical Specialist Offshore 

Location:  Offshore, Qatar

We are seeking a skilled Commissioning Mechanical Specialist to oversee and manage the mechanical commissioning activities during the preparation and execution stages of a large Expansion Project Offshore. Reporting to the Head of Commissioning Offshore, you will ensure all objectives are safely met within the approved scope, schedule, and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the execution of mechanical commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with safety requirements during SIMOPS and co-activities.
  • Monitor and report progress of mechanical equipment in the system completion database.
  • Oversee pre-commissioning of critical safety valves and SECEs (e.g., lifeboats, cranes, safety valves).
  • Manage contractor activities using OPERCOM® methodology and ICAPS© software.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth execution and support start-up/performance testing.
  • Ensure availability of mechanical spare parts and special tools.
  • Propose and monitor mitigation measures for commissioning risks and manage commissioning changes per project procedures.
  • Mentor trainees and maintain a register of lessons learned.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in mechanical commissioning for major capital projects.
  • Proficiency in high-pressure testing, gross air leak testing, motor alignment, and vibration troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in critical mechanical equipment commissioning (cranes, monorails, lifeboats).
  • Familiarity with system completion databases (ICAPS) and OPERCOM methodology.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment (high-pressure pumps, hydraulic actuators, PSV, lifeboats, cranes, etc.).
  • Familiarity with SECE performance standards and chemical injection triplex pumps.
  • Proficient in computer software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on teamwork.
  • Adaptable to offshore environments and capable of coordinating across multiple contractors and stakeholders.
