Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Construction Coordinator (Electrical) in a contract role to join a world class organization based out of Edmonton, AB.

As a Construction Coordinator (Electrical), you'll play a significant role within the Construction Team and be responsible for managing the execution of construction (electrical) contracts at a project site with primary responsibility for meeting safety performance, quality, schedule, cost objectives and other tasks.

The Construction Coordinator (Electrical), will be:

  • Driving and enforcing a progressive safety program with the goal of zero incidents.
  • Working with other Superintendents as part of a site construction team.
  • Planning and coordinating the activities of multiple subcontractors.
  • Managing construction contracts (electrical) to ensure quality and that tasks are completed on time.
  • Clearing execution obstacles to provide opportunities for subcontractors to be successful.
  • Analysing contractor progress and developing corrective action plans as the need arises
  • Managing RFIs, CCOs, and mitigating cost and schedule issues.
  • Collaborating with the Project team, subcontractors, inspectors, and others in an encouraging and professional manner.
  • Reporting and forecasting progress applying construction efficiency software

The Construction Coordinator (Electrical) will also:

  • Display all characteristics of the company's leadership on the construction site, including being a Leader of Safety on the site and with the workforce.
  • Demonstrate passionate entrepreneurial-style ownership of their SOW
  • Implement work practices (e.g., Job Safety Assessments, Safety Audits, Quality Assurance, Security Protocols, and Progress Measurement).
  • Provide daily update and Weekly Reports (e.g., Weekly Meetings Notes, General Updates, and Contract Administration, Safety, Quality, and Progress issues).
  • Understand project timing needs and assess and supervise the plan and execution to achieve the required landmarks.
  • Manage the turnover of completed construction systems and commissioned system.
  • Participate in efforts to improve group work processes and capabilities.

To be successful for this role, candidates will also be evaluated based on the following:

  • A demonstrated record of dedication with at least 10 -15 years of heavy industry construction (electrical) experience
  • Completed a degree/qualification as an Electrical Engineer or related field.
  • A track record of success in safety, quality, contract management, planning, and progress tracking.
  • A demonstrated proficiency to deliver Safety on a construction site.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong dedication to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
  • Cross-functional experience in project management, construction strategy or constructability responsibilities within an EPC, construction estimating and take-off, and/or project controls.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, ProCore, and/or Go Completions is highly regarded.
  • Construction experience with Air Separation Units or Steam-Methane Reformers is highly regarded.
  • Valid/Clean Drivers Licence
  • Legally able to work in Canada i.e., work/perm visa, citizenship.
