Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Process Engineer, based in Aberdeen. This is a long-term PAYE contract role, initially 12-months but it is a core role for the business so will be annually renewable thereafter.
Responsibilities
• Ensure the company’s operations are conducted safely in accordance with the company policy and procedures.
• Identify production and environmental improvement opportunities and implement new procedures and operational philosophies.
• Work with internal and external onshore and offshore personnel to provide support, direction and appropriate challenge to offshore process operations.
• Work closely and communicate effectively with other disciplines and client representatives to ensure the company’s production, integrity and environmental targets are delivered.
• Contribute to the loss reporting process ensuring participation within root cause analysis that have a high process & facilities engineering content.
• Liaise with and co-ordinate specialist vendor support for offshore.
• Provide expert advice and assistance to design and operations personnel on all offshore process issues.
• Frequently visit offshore to supervise and ensure process efficiency.
• Participate in and conduct HAZOPS and HAZIDS.
• Provide Process Engineering support to the start-up and integration of new projects.
• Provide Process engineering input for TARs, including but not limited to checking isolation philosophies, workpack preparation and ranking work priorities.
• Ensure attendance at any process review and Engineering query meetings.
• Identify the reasons for sub-optimal process operation, identify fix and optimise plant and production performance. This may include debottlenecking, identifying plant upgrades and ultimately engineering offshore trials.
• Keep abreast of new process engineering technology.
• Monitoring the level and quality of support for the company's asset. Use process Engineering / Operations knowledge to question and challenge decisions.
• Liaise with the client group function. Ensure consistency across the group regarding the review of process systems (e.g. relief systems). The codes and practices the company adopt should be consistent throughout the organisation.
• Occasional offshore visits to supervise execution of critical projects, and to interface with offshore team.
• Collaboration. Works collaboratively and ensures that all teams demonstrate the willingness and ability to collaborate with others to achieve results via networking, knowledge sharing and joint problem solving
• Capability Development. Identifies and utilises opportunities to develop self through commitment to personal development.
Specific Requirements
• Qualified with a BEng degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent and ideally a Masters in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Membership with a recognised professional body
• Broad technical/operational oil and gas experience.
• Ability to build and maintain good relationships with peers in partner oil companies.
• Competent in Microsoft office
• Be familiar with common industry software applications such as HYSYS
• Highest standards of ethical and professional behaviour, consistent with the company’s values for safety, respect and integrity.
• Good Analytical approach to solving technical problems.
• Solid working knowledge and proven application of relevant UK industry regulations and practises relating to the oil and gas industry
• Good interpersonal, and communications skills.
• Be able to build relationships and trust with colleagues.
• Ability to work within diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
• Have the ability to cope with fluctuating work demands and can work to deadlines.
