Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Employment Tax Analyst based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Alignment and Business Partnering:
* Identify employee tax risks and opportunities across the Group of Clients
* Develop a local strategy in respect of employment taxes, developing policy and associated documentation for use across the Group of Clients
* Identify, develop and deliver value adding tax projects including areas such as treatment of shares, benefits, salary sacrifices
* Manage change within their area including stakeholder engagement, training and support

Governance:
* Remain abreast of legislation, consider impacts in forthcoming changes in employment taxes and keep Group of Clients informed
* Identify client policies that may have links into our we management employment taxes in order to map risk factors
* Continually review Company documentation to ensure it remains compliance with current legislation
* Seek specialist advice from Tax Service Provider when this is required

Employee Share Schemes:
* Take overall responsibility for the treatment of shares in relation to employment taxes in the UK, developing policies, processes, documentation and communications in order to simplify and deliver clean taxation campaigns
* Ensure all relevant actors in employee share schemes are informed of current legislation, deadlines and their actions to deliver compliance
* Ensure share taxable events are delivered in accordance with current legislation and processing is managed via the local payrolls as required
* Act as the centralised point of all key share data in respect of share prices, exchange rates, calculation checks for tax events
* Calculation and communication of £sterling share price for relevant dates
* Prepare tax communications to employees e.g. annual dividend note in relation to self-assessments, Capital Increase Slides for sharing with UK Branches

UK HMRC Annual Filings for Client and any other UK Branches as instructed:
* Creating and maintaining a timeline in relation to key employment tax events in the UK
* PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) - prepare annual PSA for Client and provide support to other UK affiliates annually to ensure PSA calculations and returns are filed with, and liability is settled within, HMRC's deadlines
* STBV - Coordinate the Short-Term Business Visitor reporting process for applicable UK affiliates/entities, liaising with Facilities Department and Managers to ensure all visitors are captured and reported appropriately
* Form 42 - maintain annual tracker of taxable events for unapproved share schemes (Capital Increase Scheme and Restricted Stock Grant campaigns) from scheme rules. Communicate this to all UK affiliates HR departments. Request details of all awards in good time so that they can be consolidated into Form 42 template for the UK Group return. Submit template to HMRC after review by relevant Managers in HR and Finance.

Experience & Qualifications:

* Educated to high standard with on-the-job experience in the field of employment taxes
* Capacity to learn and develop specialist knowledge within the role
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with methodical approach and rigorous attention to detail
* Computer literate and experienced user of common Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc)
* Well-developed organisation, interpersonal and communication skills
* Aptitude for system and process improvements with a view to simplification and streamlining of work practices
* Ability to prioritise and manage a multiple workstreams within tight timescales and set deadlines
* Required to ensure reliability of data to support management decision-making by providing the necessary information
* Excellent interpersonal skills as well as ability to communicate internally, externally and cross-culturally at all levels within the organisation
* Ability to translate an often complex topic into clear and simple communications
* Ability to work independently and as part of team with professionals of all levels
* The ability to define problems, analyse data, identify solution, and present recommendations is essential
* Additional preference for experience in HR management tools (e.g. SAPHR), but training can be provided for the right candidate.
