Location: Hampshire, UK
Our client manage one of the largest Gas Storage facilities in the UK and provides a vital gas storage service that contributes to balancing gas supply and demand within the national gas transmission system (NTS) across the United Kingdom.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Superintendent to join our team. In this critical role, you will lead the shift team in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our gas storage facility.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Superintendent to join our team. In this critical role, you will lead the shift team in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our gas storage facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Excellence: Lead the shift team to meet daily import/export volumes and quality specifications while ensuring compliance with all operational procedures and safety regulations.
- Plant Control: Monitor and control plant operations using SCADA systems to optimize performance, prevent abnormal conditions, and maximize efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor Shift Supervisors and Operators, fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring high levels of employee performance.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Maintain regular communication with the Operations Manager, external stakeholders (such as National Grid), and other relevant parties, providing timely updates on facility status, issues, and risks.
- Incident Management: Act as Incident Controller during emergencies, ensuring prompt and effective response to all incidents while minimizing risks to personnel and the environment.
- HSE Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture and ensure strict adherence to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System (HSEMS) standards and protocols.
- Essential:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in gas production or top-tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) sites.
- Proven experience in operational supervision, process control, and team leadership.
- Strong understanding of PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams), P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and safety systems.
- Desirable:
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent safety qualification.
- Experience with SCADA systems and data analysis.
- Key Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage emergencies calmly and efficiently.
