About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading the electrical power systems modelling and design for offshore wind farm projects in the UK. You will play a key role in ensuring the successful grid connection of these projects by applying your expertise in power system analysis and grid code compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of Engineering tender requirements for electrical equipment. Collaborate effectively with electrical cable, plant, and wind farm engineers, as well as electrical protection and control system engineers, throughout the design stages.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary engineering design team, effectively communicating complex power system models and results to progress the design.
  • Support the Electrical Engineering Manager with monthly design reviews, power systems-related decision making, engineering risk management, budgeting, and programme management.
  • Collaborate with the Grid Manager in regular engagements with NESO/SSEN to address grid interaction issues and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Assist Grid/Regulation managers in assessing and responding to regulatory and policy changes. Support project technical engineering meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience in power system analysis and design for offshore wind energy projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK Grid Code and relevant grid connection requirements. Proficiency in power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with offshore wind farm projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Familiarity with other relevant international grid codes.
  • Experience with grid connection applications and negotiations.
  • Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution (e.g., IET).
