Job description

Job Title: Senior Operations Petrophysicist

Purpose: Join a dynamic team driving the RGS strategy by focusing on New Well Delivery. Your role as a Senior Operations Petrophysicist involves interpreting well logs, integrating well data, and collaborating across subsurface disciplines. From WSOR processes to post-well reviews, contribute to the team's objectives.

Organization Hierarchy:

  • N+1: Head, Petrophysical Operations
  • N+2: New Well Delivery Manager
  • Positions Subordinated: None

Accountabilities:

  1. Uphold Company HSE Policy and Safety Management System.
  2. Establish and apply technical standards for petrophysical interpretations, from data QC to validation and publishing.
  3. Develop data acquisition programs for new wells and recommend enhancements.
  4. Prioritize safety and cost optimization during data acquisition, meeting technical deadlines within budget.
  5. Cultivate positive relationships with suppliers, generating detailed QC reports.
  6. Petrophysical focal point in well SOR process.
  7. Collaborate with disciplines for post well reviews, ensuring Petrophysical input.
  8. Execute Pattern synthesis as needed.
  9. Support long-term or short-term studies as per organizational requirements.
  10. Aid in tracking data acquisition costs of relevant wells.
  11. Proactively seek learning opportunities, staying updated on well logging technology.

Responsibility in New Well Delivery Department:

  1. Analyze Development, Appraisal, and Exploration wells for volumetric assessments and reservoir characterization.
  2. Contribute independently to data acquisition strategies, logging program designs, and core analysis.
  3. Propose interpretation optimizations and workflows.
  4. Implement data quality control measures, ensuring consistent data quality from service providers.
  5. Maintain and organize the Company's log and petrophysical database.
  6. Act as Petrophysical focal point for different projects/teams, optimizing cost and achieving objectives.
  7. Support Assets during opportunity maturation, including post well reviews.
  8. Provide image log interpretations and aid in developing company standards.
  9. Collaborate with contractors, ensuring adherence to best practices and sound product delivery.
  10. Offer technical analyses and recommendations to various stakeholders.
  11. Prepare technical reports and integrate petrophysical data and study results.
  12. Mentor less experienced staff.
  13. Represent the company in committees and workgroups, presenting technical interpretations and recommendations.

Context and Environment:

  • Primary Location: Doha (Qatar) office.
  • Working Hours: Standard office hours, 5 days a week (Sunday to Thursday).
  • Flexibility for work beyond office hours, Public Holidays, and weekends as authorized.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Extensive Petrophysicist experience, specializing in operations.
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred (Earth Sciences, Physical Sciences, Petroleum Engineering).
  • Expertise in Petrophysical evaluation of LWD & Wireline logs.
  • Proficient in Carbonate & Clastics and Horizontal & Vertical well evaluations, Middle Eastern carbonates preferred.
  • Skilled in Deterministic and Probabilistic interpretation methodologies with uncertainties.
  • Image log interpretation skills (LWD & Wireline), including Horizontal borehole image.
  • Proficient in Petrophysical data management.
  • Knowledge of Geo-steering of wells.
  • Familiarity with industry standard petrophysical interpretation software, especially Techlog.
  • Familiarity with vendor tools and diverse data acquisition practices.
  • Working knowledge of coring, core analysis techniques, and multiphase Production Logging.
  • Understanding of Saturation height function methods & application.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary environment within subsurface oil and gas operations.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality technical interpretations under tight time constraints.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills in written & spoken English.
